Skin Is In!!!!!

IMG_6221Skincare can be intimidating. I have spent the majority of my teenage years trying to get down a solid skincare routine that works consistently. All skin is different, so it is so hard to get your own routine down. I love seeing what products my friends and other people use and pick and choose what products I want to try that may work well for my skin. The only way to know if your skincare routine is working is to wait and see… which can be so frustrating and annoying, I know. It’s so easy to get frustrated and get mad because you want your skin to be better NOW!!! But, being impatient won’t help- it will most likely make things worse because you’ll stress yourself out, creating more problems.

I’m going to share with you all the products I have found over the years that really work. Take from it what you will – what works for me may not work for you, but I thought it would be fun to share my faves!

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser– my favorite makeup remover and gentle cleanser

Glossier is a company started by the super-cool Emily Weiss of Into The Gloss. The brand also happens to be all the rage right now if you didn’t know {;)}. I wanted to try out the cleanser because it is supposed to be super good for removing makeup and at being the perfect all around cleanser. I LOVE it…I use it to take off my makeup and as kind of a pre-cleanse because I like to make sure I get everything off my face so it is squeaky clean.

Ultraluxe Acai Clarifying Wash is what my esthetician has used on me for years and is so gentle but so powerful- also it smells like I rubbed mint on my face which I find quite lovely!

I have used the Ultraluxe line since I was about 15 maybe because my skin started to really break out. My esthetician gave me suggestions of a bunch of products I should use. I used the line consistently for a solid three years and I noticed that while my skin wasn’t exactly clearing up the way I wanted it to, it was being well maintained. The cleanser though I love and continue to use because it is gentle, yet powerful. It makes my skin feel super clean without drying it out. However, if my skin is really acting up I will use Panoxyl to KILL THE ACNE!!

The saving grace of moisturizers – Belif The true cream moisturizing bomb

I have always been afraid of facial moisturizers because I have always been nervous that it would break me out more. Moisturizing is so so important though to keep your skin hydrated, balanced, and smooth. For years I used a light moisturizer from Ultraluxe that worked well, but then I noticed my skin was getting drier. Enter Belif. I tried the brand kind of on a whim on a trip to Sephora. It turned out to be an amazing decision- I have repurchase twice!! The moisturizer is light in texture but works so well. I noticed a difference overnight and I have been using it since. I also believe that the product works on all skin types.

This product doesn’t lie with its name – it really makes me feel like I got the good skin gene.

This is a new product to me- I’ve only been using it for about two weeks but I love it so much already I had to include it. The whole collection by Sunday Riley really interests me because it all seems so luxe. This treatment contains lactic acid, known to improve skin texture. The product also helps to reduce redness and dark spots- it really helps with my acne scarring.

The real weapons! Love Clean and Clear‘s persa-gel 10 and the Aczone that I get from my dermatologist works miracles.

I have had issues with acne since I was around 15 years old. My worst habit was popping pimples because I would get annoyed with them, but then they would just reappear in the same stupid stop and were sometimes worse than before. I then discovered products that were targeted towards spot treatment. I tried a few before I tried this one by Clean and Clear. I like this one the best because it contains benzoyl peroxide which is more effective on my skin that salicylic acid. If I have a pimple, I’ll put this onto clean skin before I go to bed and I always wake up with the blemish looking significantly better.

I also love Aczone which is a prescription topical medication. I use it under my moisturizer to keep my skin under control.

I love at home peels to keep my skin in shape.

At home peels are a treatment that I use a few times a week or when my skin is really freaking out. This one is great because it has two steps to exfoliate and to firm. I usually use the one by Kerstin Florian that I was recommended by my esthetician. It really helps improve the texture of my skin and clear up acne.

GLAMGLOW masks have saved my life- this one is amazing for clarifying my skin.

I love treating my skin with masks a couple times a week. It really keeps my skin feeling clean and under control. This mask is my favorite for when I need to treat my acne. It really dries out blemishes and makes my skin feel super clean and fresh. I layer it on and let it sit for about 20 minutes or until it is dry.

I love using Flashmud right after Supermud to color correct and keep treatment going.

I love to use this mask right after Supermud to refine and exfoliate my skin while also moisturizing. This one I leave on for at least 20 minutes, but sometimes for about an hour. It really helps to rub it into your skin as you put it on and wash it off to make sure it exfoliates really well.

I know my skincare routine is pretty involved… it is definitely not for everyone. I have the type of skin that really needs to be kept up with though- I’m jealous of you all who can just splash water on your face and look amazing! Skin care is also about prevention though. If you get started with a solid skincare routine sooner rather than later, you can keep your skin looking beautiful and youthful even longer. So give your skin and chance and GIVE IT SOME LOVE and hopefully it will love you back!
