flower patch kids: one jacket, three ways

A lot of people struggle to diversify their wardrobe. Sometimes it is hard to see past the first way you styled a piece, but the best way to optimizeΒ the pieces in your wardrobe is figuring out how to wear them multiple ways.

One of my favorite styling tricks is adding a jacket to your outfit. Especially if the jacket is leather. And even more so if the leather jacket is a little funkaaay. Like this one from Nasty Gal that sadly sold out so quickly that it isn’t available anymore. This look can be DIY’d so easily though if you just pop some cute iron-on patches to a Forever 21 faux leather jacket!

Here are three completely different looks developed around one fabulous jacket:

This is my most casual pairing. I love dressing a leather jacket down because I think that it is a perfect piece for daywear even in the warmer months (except if its like insanely hot, obviously). I paired the jacket with some super casual boyfriend shorts from Urban Outfitters and a striped cropped tank, also from Urban. I accessorized this with my grey suede Adidas Campus sneakers to add a super casual vibe to the outfit. I finished it off with a fun little choker that I made all on my own! Let me know if you want to see a DIY on that!

This second outfit is still perfect for daywear but I guess you could say is a bit more dressed up because of the skirt. I love pairing pieces together that each have their own unique thing going on instead of paring a bunch of plain pieces together. For this outfit I chose a super cute and comfy Wildfox tee with a printed A-line skirt from Missguided. I accessorized with my super fun holographic Stan Smiths and these amazing sunnies from Dior.

This last outfit is perfect for a little daytime date- even if its just coffee with your best gal pals. I love a simple slip dress, especially this one from Aritzia because the shell of it is a textured silk, but the inside is breathable cotton so it is perfect for the warmer summer months. I paired this again with my Stan Smiths and my DIY necklace to keep it casual and comfy.

I dare you to take the challenge of taking one of your favorite pieces and making three completely different outfits with it- it may change your whole perspective on your style!
